To fight climate change, governments need the best tools to develop plans for pollutant emissions monitoring and ensure compliance with environmental sustainability laws. In light of the high number of pollutants, the administration is required to review a great amount of information annually, a task that is unmanageable.

The Law on Climate Change and Energy Transition approved by the Parliament of the Balearic Islands compels medium and large companies to register their carbon footprint. To process all this data, the Department of Energy Transition and Productive Sectors rely on Vexiza’s support to simplify administrative tasks and optimize the transfer of information between the central administration and the Government of the Balearic Islands.

Thanks to ArcGIS Dashboard technology, technicians can visualize in a dashboard the aggregated carbon footprint of the economic activity of the islands. The app developed by Vexiza integrates the forms filled in by the companies, allowing later the access to all this information by clicking on any point in the map.

In addition, it is possible to filter any result by year, location, economic sector, CNAE code or by range of tons emitted, facilitating the creation of reports and statistics with which to guide regional sustainability policies.

The platform also count with other modules that centralize all the information related to emission reduction plans, as well as absorption and pollution compensation projects. Furthermore, Vexiza has developed a carbon footprint simulator, which calculates estimated emission reductions based on parameters such as changes in technology or the increase in the use of renewable energy.

Last but not least, the app is interconnected with the Open Data Portal, an initiative of the Balearic Government to provide citizens with access to the most relevant data on subjects that, like pollution, count with a great social importance.
